tour description

Pick up from your hotel in Yangon and drive to the old Ministers' office on Theinphyu Road.
The old Ministers' Office, formerly The Secretariat Building is built in the late 19th century. The structure is more than 120 years old and it sits at the heart of the city. The Victorian style building served the British seat of government for Myanmar until it's independence in 1948. It was where General Aung San and 6 cabinet ministers were assassinated by political rivals on 19 July 1947, now commemorated as Burmese Martyrs' Day.
This historic building is closed for several years and it is now under restoration to transform into a museum and offices. It is also open to public for observation. Secretariat building renovation tour includes one hour guided tour inside the buildings. The tour takes you back in time with the very first Parliament where democracy of Myanmar was conceived, takes you to the place where the fallen heroes (Martyrs) were assassinated, and lets you walk among the lush garden surrounded by grandeur of Victorian architecture restored back to its former glory.
