You’ll wake up just before dawn to observe, and possibly participate in, the practice of donating food and other daily necessities in the hopes of earning merit and supporting the religious community.

tour description

Witness the traditional daily Theravada Buddhist ritual of hundreds of monks collecting their alms. This age-old tradition of donating food and other daily necessities to monks is believed to be an opportunity for lay people to 'earn merit' - in this life or the hereafter. Monks typically leave their temples at dawn with their empty alms bowls, and walk in single file past locals who spoon rice or other food items into the bowls. You may also wish to participate in this activity.
Afterwards, stop at Min Thiha, a popular tea shop where locals enjoy their breakfast. You can taste some of its famous tea, snacks, or Mandalay noodle "Monte". Then transfer back to your hotel.
