Try your skills at pétanque and learn a few tips from the local people!
Why choose this tour?
What better way to end the day than by joining the local people in a friendly game of Petanque? Be warned this Go Local experience is fun and competitive!
Coming from Laos’ colonial days, the French game of pétanque is embedded in Laotian culture as a favourite pastime. Get picked up from your hotel and transfer to a nearby venue for a game of pétanque with the locals. Pétanque is similar to boules, and you have probably spotted the flat sand or dirt courts the game is played on during your travels. Although it looks simple to play, it requires concentration and judgement to land the metal balls close to the jack and someone may get out a tape measure to check whose shot is closest to the jack! This fun, late afternoon experience is suitable for the whole family and is popular with all ages in Laos. Spend some time relaxing ‘Laotian style,’ sample local food and drink, and learn how to play from some local experts before you show off your pétanque skills. After an evening with your ‘friends’, return to the hotel.
