Get your hands dirty during this natural dyes class!
If you are wondering how the vibrant colours you see in the textiles in Laos are produced, then this is your chance to discover for yourself. This class teaches you about the natural dyes used in traditional Lao textiles as you get hands-on in creating your own pieces of work.
Pick up from your hotel and transfer to Ock Pop Tok (“East meets West”), a business founded on the principles of fair trade and sustainable business practices. The team at Ock Pop Tok will first provide you with an introduction to silkworms and silk types. As students you will then have a hands-on experience with natural dye preparation and create 3 natural dyes using plants from the garden. This dye preparation method follows traditional Lao practices. After you have mastered dye preparation, enjoy dyeing your own unique pieces to take away with you. At the end of the class you will have two dyed silk skeins and one cotton scarf or two cotton napkins and one scarf as souvenirs of your class here in Luang Prabang.
After the class transfer back to your hotel.
