Proceed on foot to the town’s oldest part, dating back to pre World War 2, with brief stops at the Padang Merdeka and Atkinson Clock Tower. Look out for baskets, place mats, woven tribal fabrics, shell craft, batik fabrics, fresh water and salt water pearls, capiz shell lamp shades, embroidered blouses & tablecloths, wood carvings and many more.
Visit the spice bazaar and learn about various spices and their uses. Learn about the different ingredients used in cooking curries and local Malaysian cuisine. Leave the market for a refreshing glass of pulled tea "Teh Tarik" and "Roti Canai" an Indian pancake eaten with curry sauce.
