tour description

Start from Nyaung Shwe with a Tuk-Tuk for a full-day ride to uncover the hidden heritages and fascinating culture of this little town. Firstly, visit to the oldest Spirit House of the guardian of Shan state, Koe Myo Shin Nat Shrine at the entrance of the city where you will get a glimpse of local belief and the story of spirits (nat). Continue to a family-owned Rice Cracker Workshop. Not only observing but also participating in making rice crackers will offer you the authentic hands-on experience. Proceed to Nyanug Shwe Shan Palace (Sao Phwa Haw), built in the Mandalay tradition and completed in the late 1920s, which is a fine example of Shan palace architecture. After that, visit Kan Kyi Monastery, the biggest monastery with hundreds of student monks, and Yadanar Mann Aung Pagoda (the holiest pagoda in the city), donated by Sao Phwa Maung.
Take a tea break at Shwe Pyi Moe Tea House before you continue exploring Taung Myo (Nan The) village and Payar Gyi village for an insight of local lifestyle.
Lunch will be served by a local family in the village. Learn how to make typical local snack, hin htoke (banana buds are chopped and mixed with rice flour, which are packed in banana leaf and steamed), or either Leek Hin Htoke (steamed leeks) and Kin Maung Kyaw (leek and rice flour tempura). (This activity is suitable for individual and small group due to limited space.)
After lunch, hop in again for a short Tuk Tuk loop ride to enjoy pleasant and beautiful scenery and also observe the rural life pattern of farmers. Expect to see a lot of rice and seasonal vegetables such as corn, eggplant, chilli, tomato plantations along the way. At the end of the day, enjoy evening cocktail (Myanmar Rum sour) at La Riziere. Return to your hotel.
