Half Day Samui Island Tour: Join In

We start the day visiting the largest local temple on the island, the highly photogenic Big Buddha, locally known as Wat Phra Yai. Its golden, 12-metre seated Buddha statue was built in 1972 and is often the first landmark people see when arriving to Samui by air. Next, we head east and stop at a scenic viewpoint which overlooks famous Chaweng Beach, providing a great photo stop. After marveling at the views, we head south to the far end of Lammai beach and visit the symbolic rock formation ancestors of Koh Samui: Grandfather and Grandmother, locally known as Hin Ta and Hin Yai. We'll leave it your own imagination to guess what these rocks look like...!

Your guide will find a suitable place for a quick local lunch (payable locally) and then we visit the Khunaram Temple to see the rather bizarre sight of a mummified monk with sunglasses at. The monk Luong Pordaeng died in 1973 and since then his body has been on display at the temple. Even after all these years the body shows little sign of decay. The trip continues further inland with a visit to the beautiful Na Muang Waterfall. These falls are known as the Purple Waterfalls due to the striking purple shade on their rock faces. You'll have time for a dip here before we head to Naithon town for a bit of bargain shopping and then it's back to your hotel.
