tour details

Commence your tour with a delightful forest walk along the banks of the ancient East Baray! Once a water source for the Angkor temples, it is now a fertile plain of paddy fields and sugar palm trees. On your walk you’ll pass through Pradark Pagoda and small villages of traditional wooden stilted houses, shaded by coconut palms and great clumps of bamboo. You’ll continue to walk beside the lake at the base of the mountain before heading into thick scrub before emerging beside steps that lead up the 200 meters to the hilltop temple. Here you can watch the sun sink over the Siem Reap countryside with a well-earned drink in hand! For those who aren’t able or willing to climb the hill after the hike, there is a beautiful spot beside the lake to have a drink and enjoy the sunset.

tour description

A delightful forest walk along the banks of the ancient East Baray, once a water source for the temples of Angkor and now a fertile plain of paddy fields and sugar palm trees. Your path passes through Pradark Pagoda and small villages of traditional wooden stilted houses shaded by coconut palms and great clumps of bamboo. Walk beside a lake at the base of the mountain then into thick scrub emerging beside the steps that lead up the 200 meters to the hill top temple where you can watch the sun sink over the Siem Reap countryside with a well-earned beer or glass of wine in hand.
Option: The total trip time is around 4 hours. There are several pick up points along the route if we need to shorten the trip and a beautiful spot beside the lake to have a drink if the 300 steps up the hill have lost their appeal after the hike. The hike can also be done in reverse finishing at the pyramid temple of Preah Rup for a sunset view.
