Discover the beautiful waterways and the daily Mekong River life in the ever green Ben Tre Province, often known as “The Coconut Land” of the Mekong Delta
The Mekong Delta, popularly known as the “rice bowl” of Vietnam, is famous for its vast rice fields, innumerable waterways and beautiful landscape. Lying just about 85 km west of Ho Chi Minh City, Ben Tre looks like a green island wedged between the two main tributaries of Tien River, the largest branch of Mekong. With crisscrossing coconut shaded waterways and lush fruit orchards, it’s a favourable destination for lovers of eco-tourism.
The tour commences with a ride to Ben Tre City, where you will take a boat trip around Ben Tre River. Tour programme of the day includes stops to see how people make bricks, salts and coconut processing workshop. Aboard the most popular means of transportation of the Delta – the boat, you will cruise along Cai Son and Nhon Thanh creeks to see some family making traditional handicraft. Going ashore, you will take a ride by bicycle or motor cart (xe lôi) along the village paths, passing by rice fields and vegetable plains. In the afternoon, take rowing-boat along the water palm creek of Cai Coi and then return to the bus stop. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, before the drive back to Saigon.
