Commence your tour with a car trip to Don Khone Island, located in the scenic Siphandone region of Southern Laos. En route, visit the impressive 800 year-old Khmer archaeological site of Oum Moung. Then, continue by road to the quaint riverside town of Ban Nakasang. From here take a traditional boat to the popular Don Det Island before continuing to the quieter and lesser-known Don Khone Island. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes for the hike along the 110 year-old railway line, on your way to the Sumphamith waterfall. Its other name ‘Li Phi’, means ‘Spirit Trap’. The locals believe that bad spirits are trapped at the falls and get washed downstream. By then, you will be ready to enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant before taking a boat back to Ban Nakasang. Your final stop before returning to Pakse will be the memorable Khone Phapheng waterfall - the largest cascading waterfall on the Mekong! Here you will have time to marvel at the falls and take plenty of pictures.
