Discover the best of Kanchanburi on this 3-day trip. Kanchanburi is synonymous with WWII and we include visits to the famous war cemetery, the Bridge over the River Kwai and the superb Hellfire Museum. We also include overnight stays on two different charming types of accommodation on the scenic River Kwai and include our unique Diethelm cooking experience on the way back to Bangkok.

Pick up from your Bangkok city hotel and drive 2 hours approximately to Kanchanaburi.
An ancient Thai civilization, Kanchanaburi is best known for its more recent history when, during World War II the Japanese Imperial Army began construction of the infamous "Death Railway" which included the Bridge Over The River Kwai. In total, over 61,000 POW's lost their lives building the railway, tunnels and the famous bridge. Upon arrival in Kanchanaburi town (09:30 am approximate).

Visit the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, where interactive exhibits, short films and clear descriptions provide the context of the Japanese aggression in Southeast Asia, detail their plans for the railway and describe the horrors faced by those prisoners who worked and died constructing it and visit Allied War Cemetery, resting-place for more than 6,000 Allied prisoners of war (POWs).

Continue to the Bridge over the River Kwai that has gained International fame from the film version of the novel. The Imperial Japanese Army ordered the black railway bridge to be brought to Kanchanaburi by the POWs from Java as part of the so-called Death Railway.

Afterwards, transfer to Hintok River camp (about 1 'bd hrs), check in and lunch provided at hotel.

Transfer to visit the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum which is dedicated to those Australians and
other Allied Prisoners of War and Asian labourers who suffered and died at Hellfire Pass and elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region during WW2. Trekking along the Hellfire Pass Walking Trails and return to Hintok River Camp, late afternoon, get on a mountain bike to visit a village or farm nearby the camp.

Check-out and take a long boat along Kwai River about 20 minutes from Hin Tok camp to the River Kwai Jungle Rafts, passing by unspoiled mountainous jungle scenery, Thai set lunch will be provided at Jungle Raft, after refreshment, walk to visit nearby ethnic Mon Tribal Village.

Get off at local train station in Kanchanaburi and transfer back to Bangkok
