History buffs and those just interested in the Second World War make a beeline for the sleepy town of Kanchanaburi to visit the fascinating Thailand-Burma Railway Museum, an interactive information and research facility dedicated to the history of the Thailand-Burma Railway. We’ll also swing by the poignant War Cemetery, final resting place for over 6,000 allied prisoners of war, and the world-famous Bridge over the River Kwai. While we’re in Kanchanaburi, we’ll take a long-tailed boat on the Kwai through unspoilt mountainous jungle scenery and visit a Mon Tribal Village, after which we’ll enjoy a tasty dinner followed by a presentation of Mon Dance. The next day, we’ll continue the WW2 theme by visiting the Hellfire Pass Memorial and taking a historic ride on the Death Railway Train.
