Get immersed in the peaceful enchanting atmosphere of Salay in the central Myanmar. Discover the beautiful architectures of fine arts at the religious centres in the small town of Salay. Visit one of the most impressive cultural heritage sites in Myanmar, Yokesone Monastery and observe the spectacular architecture of ancient times. In the morning, drive out of Bagan to Salay, a charming small town filled with the peaceful air of the remote rural area, via Chauk where you will visit the small local market. Upon arrival in Salay, visit Yokesone Monastery, built on 154 teak posts and known for its 130-year-old beautiful wooden carvings of the ‘Jataka Tales’ (stories from the Buddha’s life) which decorate the outer walls. Take your time to stroll in and around old city of Salay to observe the heritages from the colonial days including the old house of U Bo Kyi, the donor of Salay Yokesone Monastery. Bombard your gallery with nice shots of pictures of rural scenery and friendly local people. Stop at Salay House, formerly the 1906 British-Colonial building used to be a trading company. This restored riverside warehouse is filled with antiques to recreate the flavour of this historic time period. Lunch at Salay House.
In the late afternoon, take a boat ride for 30 min when you will get to know the typical river life. Upon arrival in Padetharkyun village, explore the vegetables plantations in the village as it is the main source to support fruits and vegetables for Salay area. Sit and have a little chitchat with the friendly local family. Enjoy the magnificent scene of sunset on your way back to hotel.

After your breakfast, visit a nearby local market and take a chance to absorb the typical ways of life. Enjoy your quality moment in Salay by joining a Cooking Class where you can try at your hand of making traditional A-Nyar style dishes. Enjoy your own cooking dishes for lunch.
Afterwards, you drive out of Salay and on the way, visit Shinpinsargyo Pagoda built by King Nara Patisithu in the 11th century with the unique paintings in different styles of three periods (Bagan, Pinya/Ava, Kong Baung) from 11th to 18th centuries. The temple was decorated with paintings, glass mosaic and hundreds of the teak pillars. Afterwards, drive back to Bagan.
