Myanmar’s first open-top bus tours launch in Yangon

Mingalar Bus is the first open-top tour bus in Myanmar, allowing visitors to catch a view of the city’s most interesting sights from the open deck.

Tours begin in downtown Yangon with two daily routes led by experienced bilingual tour guides. Tickets cost USD 15 per person for the Yangon Day Tour and USD 23 for the Yangon Evening Tour which includes entrance to the Shwedagon Pagoda.

The Yangon Day Tour begins at Sule Pagoda across from City Hall then heads up Strand Road to Kyee Min Daing where the tour stops to observe traditional bronze casting workshops and visit a local market. Continuing to Sanchaung, the bus stops to visit the Allied War Cemetery and the Daw Nyar Na Sar Yi Nunnery.

The Yangon Evening Tour departs from Sule, passing by the Botahtaung Pagoda before heading east to Kandwgyi Lake to watch the sunset. The tour continues up to Kandawmin Park to enjoy the gardens then proceeds to Shwedagon Pagoda for a brief visit before finishing back downtown at the night market on Strand Road.

Mingalar Bus has announced plans to launch additional tours in Myanmar’s most popular destinations, including Bagan, Mandalay and Pyin Oo Lwin. These tours will operate during the rainy season from May to September.
