tour description

Depart for a walk by the promenade to Merlion Park. for a view of the iconic Merlion and the Marina Bay vicinity. Continue with a walk through the Colonial district. This area forms the very heart of Singapore, with its neo-Palladian buildings lining the banks of the Singapore River. Across the road is the Old Supreme Court Building, St Andrews Cathedral and the Padang's most important building, the City Hall. Stop at Raffles Landing Site where Sir Stamford Raffles is believed to have first stepped ashore in 1819. He signed a treaty with the Sultan for the right to establish a trading post in Singapore. Walk the underpass to Clarke Quay. Once used as a trading port on the Singapore River with large warehouses and docks to transport goods up the river to waiting ships to carry it all around the world, it is now a riverside festival village with the hottest nightspots and most sought-after restaurants. From here take an MRT to the historic district of Chinatown. Walk along the pathways passing by goldsmith shops, traditional Chinese medical halls, calligraphy masters, tea houses and even funeral shops selling replicas of modern items.
