The beauty of Cambodia is marred only by its ugly and violent history. Over the course of three years, 17,000 men, women, children and infants were tortured and transported to the extermination camp in Choeung Ek. We’ll head to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek where you’ll get a somber glimpse into the violence that occurred there and see the Memorial Stupa, where over 8,000 skulls are visible behind clear glass panels. We’ll then head to the notorious Sleng Museum, where you’ll observe room after room of photographs of men, women and children covering the walls from floor to ceiling. Virtually all the people pictured were later killed. Finally, we’ll explore the uplifting Russian Market, a lively outdoor market where you’ll find antiquities, jewelry, silk, carvings, and other souvenirs.
