When visiting Cambodia, watching Apsara dances being performed is a must, and you will find many places who put on “shows” mixing Apsara and Traditional dances, which are great for entertainment.
But if you want to experience a true spiritual performance, a real Khmer Ballet approved and blessed by his Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, The Sacred Dancers of Angkor’s performances are the ones you must witness.

tour description

Created in 2007, the "Preah Ream Buppha Devi NKFC Conservatoire" is the first rural dance school in Cambodia, located next to Banteay Srei Temple. The Conservatoire was established under the patronage of her Royal Highness Princess Norodom Buppha Devi, who became, at the age of 15, the Premier dancer of the Royal Ballet of Cambodia before becoming its Director in 1993 and former Minister of Culture & Fine Arts.

The Sacred Dancers of Angkor is the first and only spiritual dance troupe in Cambodia who revives rare classical and folk repertoires and specializes in sacred dance rituals to respect and re-sanctify the holy sites of the temples.
Each artist of the troupe was born, raised and trained near Banteay Srei, in the heart of the Khmer cultural heritage site of Angkor.

By virtue and dedication, these rural children, who have become real artists over their years if intense training, have naturally come to embody the spirituality, history and legacy of their ancestors.

The Sacred Dancers of Angkor leave the Conservatoire twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, to come perform in Siem Reap, at the Divine Sala.

A tuktuk will pick you up at your hotel at 18:30 hours and will drop you off, after the performance, either in town or at your hotel.
