tour description

You will be collected from your hotel and driven to the Botany Centre entrance on Cluny Road, to begin your walking tour of the Botanical Gardens. The Singapore Botanical Garden is more than 150 years old and the Gardens has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.. Start by the "old" main gate, one of the original entrances in 1859. Proceed along old paths laid down in the mid-19th century for the horse-drawn carriages of the colonial city's well-to-do merchants, you will be able to experience a sequence of mostly venerable but sometimes newly planted trees and plants such as Brazilian Robber, Yellow Saraca, Malayan Banyan, Box Fruit, Burmese Banyan, Nibong, Tembusu, African Sausage and Monkeypot, amongst many others. The historical botanical route passes through the Marsh Garden and alongside the Swan Lake. Reaching the more recent Ginger Garden where you can stop for refreshments. From here you can visit the National Orchid Garden, with its massive display of hybrid orchids and, for the enthusiast, the delight of tropical montane species in the Cool House and local species in the open Orchidarium. The Cool House also contains several species of pitcher plants. And the National Orchid Garden is well planted with Heliconias. Finally, depending on personal interest, you can walk through a 10-acre patch of primary Rain Forest, cross Palm Valley or walk alongside the Rain Forest to end at the Visitor Centre. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel or to a destination of your choice in the city
