On this tour, we’ll explore peaceful, rural areas away from the busy cities and tourist activity. We’ll first head to the quaint city of Kompong Cham, once the heart of Cambodia’s rubber industry, before heading to Chhup, a rubber plantation that was established in the region by the French tire maker, Michelin. After lunch, we’ll head to the ancient temple complex of Wat Nokhor, and see the largest temple in the province, uniquely built of black sandstone. We’ll then visit Kompong Cham, and tour the quiet city that lies along the banks of the Mekong River. Here you’ll see examples of colonial architecture that serve as reminders of its importance to trading during the French period. On our way back to Phnom Penh, we’ll stop at Skun to taste interesting delicacies, like deep fried spiders.
