tour description

At 14:00 hours: Board iMekong boat for your trip upstream the Mekong River to the sacred PaK Ou Caves. On the way we stop to visit at Ban Muang Keo, the village where the local people make traditional rice alcohol (Lao whiskey made from sticky rice). The village is also well-known for weaving silk textiles on traditional looms. After our visit we cruise downstream and stop so that we can continue on foot visiting a famous Pak Ou cave housing thousands of statues representing Lord Buddha.

Afterwards continue downstream relaxing and enjoying a sunset with traditional canapés and cold refreshing drinks including soft drinks, ‘mocktails’, a bottle of red/white wine or Lao beer. The iMekong features an on board sound system and you are free to play your own tunes. You can choose whether to enjoy a more upbeat sunset soundtrack or to simply contemplate the peace and calm of the Mekong. “Up to you”, as they say in Laos!

At 18:30 hours arrive back at the pier.

Location: iMekong Boat Pier, Ban Vat Nong, Luang Prabang (Opposite Big Tree Café.
