A single-rise mountain located by the sea, Mount Santubong presents an impressive facade as you drive towards it from the city. Although only 810m high, Mount Santubong looks rather intimidating and can be a real challenge due to its steep slopes, especially as you approach its summit. You’ll depart from Kuching & travel to Permai Rainforest where your mountain guide awaits you. The first hour of your mountain adventure consists of a moderate trek, which allows you to enjoy the amazing nature as well as the sound of the tropical jungle & mountain stream. Depending on your pace of climbing, you’ll head up for about 2 ½ – 3 hours with some rest stops. Once you reach the summit, you’ll be rewarded with a truly breath-taking panoramic view of Kuching, the Damai peninsula & the South China Sea.

Mount Santubong, situated on the Damai peninsula about 35 km north of Kuching, is a single-rise mountain just by the sea, hence its impressive facade as you drive towards it from the city. Although only 810 metres high, Mount Santubong looks rather intimidating and poses a real challenge due to its extreme steep slopes, especially near its summit.
07:00 hrs. - Depart by air-conditioned vehicle from your hotel in Kuching. After 45 minutes of travel by road, you will arrive at Permai Rainforest where your mountain guide awaits you. After safety briefings by your mountain guide, start the climb. The first hour of your mountain adventure consists of a moderate trek, which allows you to enjoy the amazing nature as well as the sound of the tropical jungle and mountain stream, and to get your body into rhythm for the ascent. Ropes are strung along difficult and steep stretches, and sometimes you have to clamber over huge uneven boulders. Depending on your pace of climbing it may take approximately another 2 'bd - 3 hrs. of climbing with some rest stops. At the final approach to the summit, the ascent is practically perpendicular, but ladders are strung. Once you are at the summit, the reward is a breath-taking panoramic view of Kuching, the Damai peninsula and the South China Sea. Enjoy the cool breeze while having a light snack. After 30 minutes of resting and enjoying the scenic views at the summit, you will start to descend the mountain.
Transfer back to Kuching by air-conditioned vehicle.
