Discover the off-road jungle trails of a historical gold mining town, cycle through rocky rainforest terrain leading to abandoned gold mines and explore Kuching's famous caves - the Wind & Fairy Caves!
This tour starts with a scenic 45 minutes' drive by air-conditioned vehicle from your hotel in Kuching to the countryside, where the roads are less traveled. Hop on your mountain bike and ride off to the Wind Cave. Explore this impressive cave, which is named after the continuous breeze surging through narrow passages. The dark caverns are also home to a myriad of bats hanging from the cave ceilings.
Next you will head off-road with your mountain bike, riding along gravel paths to an old hidden gold mine. Gold was first discovered in this area in the 1840's by local Chinese miners and mining operations were run by Chinese syndicates before the British 'Borneo Company Limited' bought them out. The mines were closed in 1921 because most of the easily reachable minerals had been removed.
Continue your mountain bike ride along gravel paths to the Fairy Cave. Climb up over 100 steps to the entrance of the cave, which is 36 metres above the ground, and explore the Fairy Cave. Let the guide tell you the exciting fairy tales connected to this cave while you look out for human-like stalagmites and stalactites, which the locals uphold as places of worship.
After the exploration of Fairy Cave proceed off-road along rainforest trails. Enjoy the lush green forest around you and listen to the jungle orchestra of birds and insects, while tackling a challenging up- and downhill ride. The vehicle will wait for you at the end of this trail. After loading up our bikes we will drive to the charming historical town of Siniawan for lunch, before returning to Kuching.
