Stories and tales dating back more than 1,400 years refer to the ancient Mon Kingdom of Hariphunchai. Today, the capital of Lamphun still retains its enchanting ambience of a small but old community. Only 26 kilometres from Chiang Mai and located on the banks of the Kuang River, Lamphun has numerous ancient sites, relics, forests, mountains and lakes. On this tour you’ll visit many historical sites including Wat Haripoonchai, considered one of the most sacred and venerated monuments in the north. Here you can admire the intricately lacquered doors, some of the largest bronze gongs in the world, and two unforgettable bronze Buddha images. On the return trip back to your Chiang Mai hotel, you’ll stop in the village of Pasang, famous for its high quality silk and cotton products.
