At 8:30 hours depart Luang Prabang. Tour guides will pick up clients from hotels or guesthouses. This interactive day offers, “An intimate non-riding experience focused on education and elephant welfare”. Over coffee and tea, the expert guides and Mahouts at the centre will provide you with an in-depth introduction into elephant behaviour and communication. Cross the Nam Khan river for your first introduction to elephants. You will have some tasty treats for the elephants to enjoy. Enjoy observing the bathing, playing and swimming experience with the elephants. NB in cold weather the elephants are less likely to want to get wet.
Begin your 5km round-trip trek and pass the beautiful Lao gardens before exploring the jungle covered Huay Nok stream. You will walk alongside the elephants allowing you to gain insights, respect and understandings about these remarkable animals.
A traditional Lao lunch will be served in banana leaves while you rest and relax on bamboo mats. After lunch, visit Tad Kuang Song Waterfall. This hidden treasure is named after the Golden Deer spirit. Take a cool refreshing dip or simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this natural jewel.
During the trek, observe and learn from the mahouts as they demonstrate how to become an elephant whisperer. At the end of the trek take some time to say goodbye to the elephants and reflect on memories you can cherish for a lifetime.
Transfer back to Luang Prabang with drop off at your hotel or guesthouse approximately 16:00 hours.
NB This tour may go out together with the half-day “Therapeutic Trek,” In such cases the group size will be up to 8 people for the first half of the day. Then, the “Therapeutic Trek” guests head back to the centre and a maximum of only four people will continue for the second half of the day.
