Get a glimpse into the history of the Vietnam War as you explore some of its most poignant sites.
During the Second Indochina War (also known as the Vietnam War), the Ben Hai River was the demarcation line between North and South Vietnam. Located at the ’17th Parallel’, this created a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) of five kilometres each-way from the river. Notably, the southern section of the DMZ was one of the bloodiest battlefields of the whole war. As you tour the DMZ you’ll visit a selection of the most poignant war sites including the Ben Hai River, Hien Luong Bridge, Khe Sanh military base and Dong Ha Town. You’ll also see the fascinating and almost unbelievable Vinh Moc Tunnels. Next you’ll have picnic lunch at a local restaurant. On the way back to Hue you’ll stop at the Ancient Citadel of Quang Tri, built in 1824 during the reign of Minh Mang.
