    tour details

There are some amazing villages on the Tonle Sap, some are only floating, some have both floating and crazy high stilted houses. During the rainy season when the water is high though, you wouldn’t believe some houses are up on 10m wooden stilts!
This is a special tour as we will not take you to one of the villages but two of them, and enjoy a boat ride on the Great Lake in between both.

    tour description

You will be driven to Soutr Nikum District (pronounced So Nikum) which occupies a long stretch of shore on the Tonle Sap Lake and is home to one of the largest communities on the water, Kompong Khleang.
If the water has receded, you will walk through the local market up to the Pagoda. If the road is flooded, you will board your local wooden boat upon arrival and start your journey towards the Great Lake starting by going through this huge and impressive stilted village with houses rising as high as 10m.
Once on the Tonle Sap, you will ride the waters until the next floating village, Kompong Phluk, much smaller village with nearly 10 times less population and surrounded by a flooded forest which you will pirogue through (from August until January) before entering and going through the fishermen's village.
