tour details

Bangkok is all about contrast. Lying just beneath the pulse of vibrant modernity lies an ancient civilization and culture. Delving through the markets of Bangkok’s vivacious yet mysterious Chinatown, we then hop on a ferry to cross the majestic River of Kings to a more serene side of the city.

tour description

Experience the commotion of Chinatown as you witness the heart of downtown Bangkok come to life with shop vendors and merchants packed onto every street corner and alleyway. Sample wares, spot unique souvenirs, and experience the bustling atmosphere of one of Southeast Asia's oldest trade markets. The journey continues, this time on a river ferry, an authentic form of Bangkok transportation as old as the markets. A much quieter part of town where the trail changes pace into gentle back roads that lead to the embrace of serene Princess Mother Memorial Park. Amidst the flowers and lush foliage lies a small museum, well worth the visit.

Even though we're still in Chinatown, no true Bangkok market tour is complete without a closer look at Portugese influences. We'll visit Santa Cruz Catholic Church, built during the 18th century when the Portuguese came to Thailand, and taste Portuguese-inspired desserts, made from recipes passed down for generations. From there it's a stop to admire Wat Arun, one of Bangkok's majestic temples, perched on a prime riverfront location.
