tour description

The tour starts from where it all began - Raffles Landing Site - where Sir Stamford Raffles is believed to have first stepped ashore in 1819 and found a small settlement of Malays headed by the Temenggon (governor) for the Sultan of Johore. He signed a treaty with the Sultan for the right to establish a trading port. Learn how during the 50 years following Raffles establishment of his free-trade port, Singapore became one of the busiest port and thriving financial and services sector. Admire neo-Palladian buildings lining the banks of the Singapore Rier as we walk to The Fullerton Hotel. Built in 1928, it was once home to Singapore's General Post Office, The Exchange Room and Exchange Reference Libray, and the prestigious Singapore Club. Here enjoy Afternoon Tea and visit The Fullerton Heritage Gallery showcasing the rich heritage and history of the precinct. Just as Raffles sailed on the river, end your tour on a bumboat, traditional cargo-ferrying crafts, for a cruise along the Singapore River.
