tour details

If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of Bangkok’s concrete jungle, take a step back in time on this cruise along the Chao Praya River and the canals (called klong in Thai) of Thonburi.Thonburi was formerly the capital of Siam, until the capital moved across the river, and until 1972 it remained a separate province, removed from the hectic modernising on the east bank. Once, most Bangkokians lived on the water, and it was called the ‘Venice of the East.’ On our cruise, we’ll experience the serenity of the simple, centuries-old lifestyle enjoyed by the riverbank dwellers in their stilted houses and dilapidated lean-tos over the water. Along the way, we’ll be stopping at one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand, the stunning Wat Arun, on the banks of the Chao Praya.

tour description

Among the best ways to explore Bangkok is by boat. A cruise along the Chao Phraya River - the city's lifeblood - and the canals of Thonburi reveal scenes at odds with the bustling, modern inner city. Visitors get a glimpse of the serene and simple lifestyle of riverbank dwellers. This picturesque view is what earned Bangkok the title of "Venice of the East." En route, stop at Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), one of the most attractive temples in Thailand.
