Mountain biking off-road is a perfect way to discover the hidden corners and unseen back streets of Laotian rural life. On this tour, visit local villages and see the rural lifestyle of the people who live outside of Luang Prabang town. If you prefer mountain bikes to the push bikes of Luang Prabang peninsula, then this excursion will be perfect.
At 9:00 hours you will be picked up at your hotel for a mountain bike tour with a guide around the Chompet district of Luang Prabang. Your guide knows all the hidden corners to explore and can help with conversations with the local villagers you encounter on the ride. Chompet is located on the far side of the Mekong from Luang Prabang and so the day starts with a short ferry crossing. Then begin cycling with the guide leading the way. The roads can be quite bumpy and some sections are quite hilly so a reasonable level of fitness is required. However, the effort is worth it for the off-the-beaten track experiences the day will bring. Cycle past rice paddies, through traditional villages and look out for buffaloes. Stops are made at some of the beautiful monasteries including Wat Chompet.
Lunch today is a picnic stop en route where you can fuel up for the afternoon portion of the ride.
Drink stops will be taken as and when required and the guide can tailor the ride to some degree to the groups’ interests. At the end of the ride take the ferry back over to Luang Prabang peninsula.
Return to the hotel approximately 15:00 hours
