tour details

Your tour commences with a 35km transfer to the starting point. From here you’ll cycle through villages and rice fields before reaching the “Kampong Khleang” fishing village. You may be surprised to see tall ‘stilt houses’ here. These are built for fishermen to protect themselves from the high waters of the Tonle Sap River. Here you’ll see the local production of fish sauce called “Prohok” and smoked fish. You’ll then transfer back to your hotel before lunchtime. This 22km tour is suitable for cyclists of all levels and is on mostly unpaved roads. Note: During the monsoon months the level of the Mekong heightens significantly. The direction of the Tonle Sap River reverses and creates huge changes in the lake’s water level. This excursion will not run from June to October due to flooding.

      notes

The wet season is not the ideal time for biking. The best season is from November through to April, roughly corresponding to the dry season and the tourist high season. May, June and July need not be a bad time either, as it is hard to predict when the rains will come. We would not recommend a biking trip during August and September.
