On this excursion, we’ll take a leisurely cycle through the rice paddies and small village communities around the town of Udong. We’ll stop along the way and you’ll learn a little about the lives of the people who call this area home and enjoy some delicious local snacks. We’ll make our way to Udong Mountain where we’ll stop to enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch before heading to the top of the mountain, and the temple that is located there. This towering temple is perched on Phnom Udon, a mountain that was the capital of Cambodia for around 200 years until it was moved to what is now Phnom Penh. After taking some time to explore, we’ll drive back on a motorbike powered trailer to Phnom Penh, taking in the beautiful scenery along the Tonle Sap River.

60 km moderate ride on small dirt paths and quiet, mostly unpaved roads. Take a leisurely cycle through the rice paddies and small village communities, stopping along the way to learn a little about the lives of the people who call this area home and to enjoy some delicious local snacks. Reach Udong Mountain around lunch-time and enjoy a picnic before visiting the temple. This towering temple is perched on a mountain that was the capital of Cambodia for around 200 years until it was moved to what is now Phnom Penh. After some time to explore, drive back to Phnom Penh along the Tonle Sap River.

      notes

      The wet season is not the ideal time for biking. The best season is from November through to April, roughly corresponding to the dry season and the tourist high season. May, June and July need not be a bad time either, as it is hard to predict when the rains will come. We would not recommend a biking trip during August and September.
