tour description

Travel by air-conditioned vehicle approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, passing through the marvellous countryside of the Borneo Highlands, and make an en-route stop at a pepper farm (depending on seasons). Visit a Bidayuh longhouse, the former headhunters of Borneo. Upon arrival, you will be served a welcome drink (tuak - local brewed rice wine). After that you will be taken on a guided tour around this Bidayuh village to see how parts of their traditions are still alive and how in other parts they have adapted themselves to present days. Coming towards the last section of this village, you will be invited by your host family to join them in preparing Borneo's signature dish - chicken meat cooked in bamboo - as well as other local simple but delicious dishes.
After lunch you will be taken on a short nature walk (about 1 hour) in the neighbourhood to learn more about edible jungle food and herbal medicines. You will also visit the nearby hot spring, which the tribal people regard as a holy place to seek blessings and cure for sickness. Take a dip in this natural hot tub! (Please don't forget your swimming gear.) After this, return back to Kuching.
