tour description

This special guided backstreet & canal tour will bring you to places rarely visited by tourists. You will travel on foot and various boats and enjoy riverside life at its best. Meet you guide at the lobby of your hotel and depart on foot to the nearest skytrain station (in case your hotel is located too far from a skytrain station, your guide will arrange a local taxi - the taxi fare is not included and payable on spot according to the fare shown on the meter). Travel by skytrain to the Chao Phraya River and take a shuttle boat to River City pier. From here, continue on foot through small alleys into Samphanthawong district, which is among the most densely populated districts of China town. Take a moment to admire the glass mosaics and richly decorated ceiling of The Holy Rosary Church, built by Portuguese settlers in 1786 on a land bestowed upon them by King Rama I. Close by is the first commercial bank established in Thailand in 1904, built in Art Deco style and now the headquarters of Siam Commercial Bank. Continue on foot to Hon Wong Kung, a Chinese Shrine built on the river banks. Board the public express boat and enjoy the breeze and sights along the river during the 1-hour trip to Nonthaburi province. Take in the smells and sights of the bustling local market, which displays an array of fresh produce from nearby farms, such as exotic fruit and vegetables, spices, curry pastes, flower garlands, seafood, household goods and freshly prepared food and snacks. Why not try some of the famous Thai sweets sold at street stalls along the foot path! Time to eat! Enjoy a delicious Thai lunch at a riverside restaurant, before venturing into the canals of Nonthaburi province. After lunch, continue by private chartered boat and proceed to parts of Bangkok that are only accessible by these boats. Discover rural canal life, no tourist in sight! Wooden houses on stilts, fruit orchards and glittering temples under the shade of a Banyan tree offer glimpses into an era gone by. Eventually you will venture into even smaller canals. By mid-afternoon, disembark at Nonthaburi pier for your return trip to Bangkok by public express boat.
