Drive to the south of the city to visit Wat Ton Kwen or Wat Inthrawat, one of the finest examples of classic Lanna architecture in Northern Thailand. Proceed to hang Dong for an incredible gastronomic experience with the local Ruankaew-Yanon family. You will be welcomed into their home to experience a typical day in the life of a Thai person, in a real Thai neighbourhood. You will learn to cook traditional home cooked recipes with authentic Northern Thai flavorus that are different from standard dishes offered in commercial cooking classes. Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal which helped create with the whole family.
Then in the afternoon visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, tucked away in the mountains at an elevation of 3,280 feet (1,056 meters). To reach the temple itself requires a climb up a Naga staircase of 290 steps. The monastery was built by King Gue-Na in 1383. In its centre stands a huge Chedi (spired pagoda), which contains partial relics of Lord Buddha. If visiting in the afternoon, it is recommended to time your visit to listen to the Monks chanting around 1800 hours. Drop off back at centrally located Chiang Mai hotel.
