tour description

Pick up from your hotel and drive to Wardan jetty (Pickup time to be advised by your guide, subject to Z craft departure times and hotel location). Take the Z craft to cross the Yangon river (approximately 20 min). Then drive from Dala to Twante via Twante canal bridge. (approximately 45 min) Upon arrival in Twante, visit to Shwesandaw Pagoda which receives very few international visitors ensuring an experience that feels more authentic and off the beaten track in nature. Proceed to the pottery area where a large part of the population is engaged in pottery production. Walk through many workshops and observe those very traditional craft. A stroll through the local market should not be missed and a walk to the river side to see how the goods are loaded into the boats.
After that, drive to Kyaikthalae village (approximately 30 min), situated on route to Kaw Mhu. On arrival to Kyaikthalae village, you will be greeted by warm welcome at the community lodge. The community leader will explain more about the village and the CBT project. Then pay a visit to villagers' homes to learn about local industry including bamboo basket weaving and sewing. Explore the fields of the local farming community to learn about the creation of natural fertilizer, the cultivation of crops and poultry farming. This will be followed by traditional local lunch.
In the afternoon, drive back to Dala. (approximately 30 min). Arrive in Dala and take a trishaw ride to the country roads through local villages to a monastic school. Here you can meet the children and talk to the teachers (with help of your guide). The monks do all they can with very limited funds to create a good life for the children, and if you care to make a donation while you are here, it will be welcomed for the purchase of school books, blankets, rice, clothing etc. The children are delighted to meet foreigners, and these encounters can be very rewarding for visitors. Next visit is to Chu Chu Workshop; you will see how the plastic bags from the garbage are turned into useful products. They gather plastic bags from the dumping sites and markets in Yangon and work to develop new designs that meet the local and international market demand. Take the Z craft again and this time, enjoy the beautiful sunset in the Yangon river.
