tour description

Depart your hotel by 08.00 for the 1 hour drive north to MaeSa to the Thai Elephant Care Centre for a half day experience from 09.00 to 12.00.
The Thai Elephant Care Centre cares mostly for elderly (occasionally sick or pregnant elephants), which have retired from active working lives and are unable to look after themselves.Currently it has about 10 elephants and the Centre covers a huge area including hilly forest where the elephants can roam free during the day and enjoy the Mae Sa River for bathing.

Our programme includes a briefing, visiting and interacting with elderly elephants, making and feeding the elephants with grinded grass and herb balls and bathing them in the Mae Sa River. There are changing rooms and an outfit is provided on arrival.

After lunch at a local restaurant (own cost) and en route back to Chiang Mai stop at Elephant Poo Paper. Elephant Poo Paper is an eco-friendly, naturally built, outdoor museum park focused on introducing and explaining the unique steps involved in making our world famous paper products from elephant poo fibres. Extremely well done and supported by WWF,
it has a great cafe, shop and plenty of opportunities for "hands on" during the whole process.
Visit the nearby Siam Insect Museum and butterfly garden, a private collection built over 30 years, before returning 1 hour to the city.
