Breakfast at hotel & check-out.
Take a leisurely stroll on the esplanade alongside Malaysia's longest river - the mighty Rajang river. See how local people use boats of all sorts (express boats, speed boats, sampans, etc) to move along the river. Walk on to visit a beautifully crafted Chinese temple, climb up the 7-storey Pagoda with a panoramic view of Sibu's Waterfront, and cut across the winding streets of old Sibu town towards the Sibu Heritage Centre. Here you get an insight into Sibu's history, as well as the local communities' cultures, lifestyles and traditions. Finally explore the biggest Central Market in Malaysia, which is home to more than 1,200 stalls, serving up a bedazzling variety of commodities.
Transfer by speed boat (~1 hr 30 min) to Sungai Kut. This boat journey will bring you through the meandering river, passing Malay villages, timber & sago processing factories, Iban longhouses and Melanau villages. Stop at the Sungai Kut Melanau Village and take a glimpse into the peaceful, undemanding and amazingly serene village life of the gentle Melanau tribe.
Transfer by speed boat (~15 min) onwards to Dalat (if the water level is low, this part of the journey will be covered overland, using local vans).
In Dalat you will visit the iconic Church by the River & The Jerunei Gardens to find out what's so fascinating about these two icons of Dalat.
