Over 8 days you’ll see some of the most stunning scenery that Bhutan has to offer. Much of this will be on foot as you hike to such spiritual landmarks as the 400-year old Chari Goemba monastery, the twice-built Tango Monastery and the recently constructed Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chhorten. Our tour will also give you a chance to experience the rich culture of Bhutan, through visits to the Handicraft Emporium and the National Museum. Here you’ll see art, textiles, armour and costumes – a real insight into the fascinating culture of this small Himalayan nation. On the final day you’ll experience Bhutan’s most well known landmark – the ‘Tiger’s Nest’ – which is precariously perched on the side of a cliff, more than 800m above the Paro Valley. A memorable conclusion to your Bhutan adventure!

You will be received by the representative of Diethelm Travel Bhutan who will be your guide throughout your tour. Drive to see the Rinpung Dzong, built in 1645 to defend the valley against Tibetan invaders. The Dzong is now used as an administration center and school for monks. Visit the National Museum which is a repository of not only work of art but also costumes, armor and other hand crafted objects of daily life that provides a good snapshot of the rich cultural traditions of the country. Visit Dungtse Lhakhang, that lies just out of town, across the river. Check into hotel.
Morning, visit Kyichu Temple, one of the 108 temples built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. Drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. On route visit Tachogang Temple. Check in hotel. Tour the National Folk Heritage Museum to get an insight of the Bhutanese way of life. Tour the National Library where the history of Bhutan lies imprinted in archaic texts, which are preserved at the National Library, a treasure trove of priceless Buddhist Manuscripts and ancient texts. Visit the Textile Museum to get an understanding of the beautiful hand woven Bhutanese textiles.Visit the Bhutan Post known for its world famous stamps where you can buy postcards and stamps.
Drive to Punakha (70Km) via the Dochula pass (3140 m). An hour's drive from Thimphu will take you to this pass (3140 m) where one can have a superb view of the Eastern Himalayas on a clear day. Visit Druk Wangyel Chorten, built by the Queen Mother for the peace and stability of the country. Chimi Lhakhang, this temple is believed to bless couples unable to have children and many people from around the world visit this holy site to seek its blessing. Check in hotel. Free time to relax.
Hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chhorten (50mins). This chhorten was built by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck in 1999 for the protection of the country. Visit the impressive Punakha Dzong, the second of Bbhutan's Dzong. Drive to Thimphu. Check in hotel. Free time to relax.
Hike to Tango Monastery, about 7 miles from Thimphu. This monastery is a lovely place for an excursion. The drive or walk to reach it offers beautiful views of the countryside. The monastery dates back to the 13th century and was rebuilt in the 15th century by the "Divine Madman", Lama Drukpa Kuenley. Visit the Institute for Zorig Chusum commonly known as the painting school. Visit the Handicraft Emporium and the Memorial Chorten. Drive to see the Takin Preserve and BBS Tower. Evening, visit Tashichhodzong.
Hike to Chari Goemba (monastery). This monastery was built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1620. Visit Pangri Zampa Temple, the school of astrology. Drive to Paro. On route visit Semthokha Dzong, the oldest dzong in Bhutan. Check in hotel and free time to relax.
Morning hike up to the Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's nest). The climb up to the viewpoint will take approx. 3hours. Enjoy the stunning view of the monastery, where Guru Padmasambhava flew on the back of a tiger and landed there in the 8th century, and meditated for three months. Drive to Drukgyal Dzong (fortress) now in ruins, which were built in 1646by Shabdrung to commemorate his victory over the Tibetan invaders, led by Mongolian Warlord, Gushri Khan.
In the morning, your guide will escort you to the airport for your flight onwards.
