You’ll commence your sightseeing in Bagan, with a beautiful sunset over a field of glowing riverfront pagodas. After breakfast, you’ll explore Bagan’s local markets. You can also hire a bicycle and explore this area on your own. Later, take afternoon tea as a guide provides an overview of local customs. Next, you’ll enjoy a cookery demonstration before disembarking for a tour of Mingun. The following day you’ll embark on an excursion to Pyin Oo Lwin, a hill station set high in the mountains. Here you’ll soak up the cool climate, English style houses, colourful market and beautiful gardens. You’ll conclude with a visit to the Sagaing Hills, a walking tour of Shwe Kyet Yet village, a visit to the ancient capital of Ava, a tour by traditional horse & cart, and a casual cocktail party.

After a domestic flight from Yangon to Bagan, transfer to the Belmond Road to Mandalay. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of Bagan and watch the sunset over a field of thousands of pagodas. Return to the ship for dinner.
After breakfast join the guide to explore some of Bagan's bustling local markets. Alternatively, you can hire a bicycle or horse-drawn cart and explore this enchanting area on your own. The ship anchors mid-river for the evening, providing a marvelous opportunity to observe the stars, followed by a spectacular dinner.
Relax on-board with a morning at leisure, including a cooking demonstration on the top deck. The ship moors in Mandalay late afternoon for a tour of Mingun, home to the enormous, ruined pagoda of King Bodawpaya. Return to the ship for dinner and local entertainment.
A full day's excursion to Maymyo, a colonial hill station set high in the mountains. A typical Shan lunch is taken at a colonial house. Return to the ship for dinner and local entertainment in the evening.
After breakfast, visit Sagaing Hills, regarded as the centre of Buddhist faith in Myanmar. Return to Belmond Road to Mandalay for lunch as you cruise to Mandalay. Enjoy a tour of the fabled city's key sights before returning to the ship for dinner.
Join an early morning walking tour of Shwe Kyet Yet village. Return for breakfast as the ship sails to the ancient capital of Ava, where you'll disembark for a tour by horse-drawn cart. Return to the ship for lunch and set sail for Bagan once more, enjoying an evening at leisure on board. This evening enjoy a casual cocktail party followed by dinner on board.
Enjoy a full day's excursion to Mount Popa, a national park and believed to be the sacred home of powerful 'Nats'. Return to the ship for dinner and local entertainment.
After an early breakfast you are transferred to Bagan airport for your onward flight.

  • All timings are approximate and should be used as a guide only

  • The rivers of Myanmar vary from season to season, with as much as a 30ft variance in water level. From January through June, the Ayeyarwady’s levels may drop, creating a narrower channel for navigation. To allow for these changes, Belmond Road to Mandalay may operate a revised itinerary and mooring locations may be amended.
