Depart to the Semenggoh Nature Reserve. The entire facility occupies an area of 740 acres and acts as a sanctuary for orang utans that have been rescued from captivity and young orphaned primates. These animals are trained or re-trained to survive in their natural habitat. They learn how to forage for natural food and build nests in the trees. Many have been returned into the surrounding area of the nature reserve. But there are few that will never re-learn their natural skills due to long association with and dependence on humans. There are daily scheduled feeding times. However, sightings of these primates during feeding times are not guaranteed due to the fact that they are roaming freely within the nature reserve. From here we continue with a 4 hours journey by air-conditioned vehicle to Batang Ai. Along the way, we will visit the native market in Serian, pass by rice fields and visit a pepper plantation. The last stop will be at Lachau, a small up-country Chinese village, where we will stop for lunch, before proceeding to the scenic Batang Ai lake. Here, you will board native longboats for a 45 minutes' ride across the lake and further upriver to reach an Iban longhouse. Upon arrival you will be invited into the longhouse to meet the Ibans and their families and have a tea break. During the tea break, the Ibans and your guide will explain to you about the spiritual beliefs and traditional rituals of an Iban wedding ceremony to prepare you for your very own longhouse wedding ceremony!
Now it's time for the preparations: while some of the Iban women will cook a sumptuous dinner together with your guide, the other Ibans will dress you up in the traditional Iban costumes. Then you will be seated on large gongs in the communal hall of the longhouse where the rest of the community will slowly come together to witness the celebration. A specially appointed person, usually a longhouse elder or a shaman, will conduct the nuptial ceremony and ensure that all rituals are performed in accordance with the Iban 'Adat' (customary law). Marriage rituals include the waving of a rooster over the heads of the couple as a blessing or the 'Melah Pinang' ritual, where a betel nut is cut into two halves in order to seek approval from the spirits. Once married according to the Iban 'Adat' you will enjoy an evening of merry making with lots of food, home-made 'Tuak' (rice wine) as well as traditional music and dances.

Overnight at the longhouse (very simple accommodation).

Basic accommodation in the communal hall of the longhouse with mosquito net,
mattress, pillows and blanket provided.

Meals included: Breakfast
The cockerels will sing loud and clear for you to wake up the next morning. Observe the special atmosphere in the early hours of the day when the first rays of sunlight wake the longhouse and the natives prepare for their daily chores in the rice fields and pepper farms. After a simple breakfast, you may try your skills with the blowpipe, the ancient hunting weapon of Borneo's natives. Depart the longhouse and venture on a nature walk (approximately 1 hour) through the farmland of the Ibans to arrive at a small stream. A typical native lunch, cooked in bamboo over an open fire, will be served by the stream (subject to weather condition; in case of rain the lunch will be served in the longhouse). After lunch proceed by longboat downriver to the Aiman Batang Ai Resort & Retreat.
Check-in at the resort.
In the afternoon you can venture on a short nature walk including a canopy bridge (subject to weather conditions). The rest of the day is free at your own leisure to use the many facilities of the resort.

Breakfast at the resort.
This day is free at leisure to use the many facilities of the resort or simply relax at the
beach. The resort also has two well-marked nature trails leading through the
surrounding forest. One of the trails is a short nature walk of approximately 45 minutes,
the other requires trekking for about 3 hours through pristine primary forest. If you are
lucky you get a first glimpse of one of the three different species of monkeys that do occasionally roam in the resort's premises.
17.00 hrs. - Embark on a mangrove sunset cruise. This cruise takes you to the mouth of the Santubong River and along the mangrove forest of Kuching Wetlands National Park. Enjoy the amazing scenery of the mangrove swamp and learn how the various animals, like the proboscis monkeys, and the uniquely adapted mangrove trees develop a complex symbiotic eco-system. The Irrawaddy or snub fin dolphins are often seen as well. If the weather permits you will get to see a breath-taking sunset over the unique scenery of the mangrove forest. In the dark you will continue your cruise through the mangroves in search for the estuarine crocodile. Their eyes shine in a bright red colour when hit by the light of torch lights. Another natural phenomenon are the fireflies that congregate in the mangrove trees and let them shine like Christmas trees! After this exciting experience return to the resort for dinner.
