tour details

Called God’s own country, Kerala offers a completely different destination than anything else in India. The Luxurious Kerala experience provides discerning travellers the incredible opportunity to explore the region’s famous backwaters and kettuvalams (rice barges converted into houseboats), see elephants in the wild, savour southern Indian specialties, benefit from ancient Ayurvedic massages, and simply sit in a hammock relaxing in nature’s embrace. Throughout the tour, guests also enjoy the privilege of staying in their own choice of accommodation as well as CGH Earth Hotels, designed to offer immersive, atmospheric stays that are as culturally rich as they are environmentally friendly.

The Luxurious Kerala tour starts with your arrival in to Cochin Airport where you will be received by a Diethelm representative and escorted to Brunton Boatyard. The recreated colonial building blends seamlessly into its colonial era surroundings of a former Victorian shipbuilding yard offering an elegant stay.

Overnight stay in Cochin.
After a relaxing breakfast at the hotel, head out on a guided sightseeing tour of Cochin stopping at a number of places of interest, including the Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, Cochin Harbour, St. Francis Church and Fort Kochi Harbour.
Later in the evening, experience a Kathakali dance performance, a classical dance drama from Kerala recognised by its elaborate costumes and masks.

Overnight stay in Cochin.
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Periyar, an area known for its incredible natural scenery and wildlife sanctuary. Upon arrival in Periyar, check in at Spice Village Resort. Styled as a traditional mountain tribal village, the resort has been reimagined for the modern traveller complete with evocative natural surroundings and contemporary comforts.

Overnight stay in Periyar.
To experience Periyar’s incredible sanctuary, embark on an early morning boat ride on Periyar Lake. There are roughly 700 elephants roaming the nearby forest, which can also be often seen on the banks of the lake.
Later in the evening, enjoy a guided tour to a nearby spice plantation.

Overnight stay in Periyar.
After breakfast, drive to Kumarakom. Upon arrival in Kumarakom, check in to Coconut Lagoon, an atmospheric resort located on the edge of Vembanad Lake, surrounded by water and rice fields.
The day is at leisure – unwind and enjoy the facilities of the resort.

Overnight stay in Kumarakom.
After a relaxing breakfast at the resort, board your own private houseboat for an overnight excursion and stay.
The converted rice barge, or kettuvallam, sail past shallow palm-edged lakes and narrow canals, taking you through villages constructed on narrow spits of land to stop at the local markets or marvel at skilled craftsmen engaged in centuries-old boat-making traditions. With one or two intimate cabins, a 2-member crew and chef, the extraordinary private experience – complete with fresh Keralan cuisine – will surely stick in your memory for years to come.

Overnight onboard a houseboat.
Rise for breakfast on the water and one last lakeside cruise before disembarking from your houseboat in either Alleppey or Kumarakom and driving to Cochin Airport for your onward flight.
