Embark for an authentic journey of discoveries from visiting temples, pagodas, palaces and monasteries to remote villages aboard this ship. Sailing on the luxury cruise along the Ayeyarwaddy River. Your journey begins with breakfast in the tranquil gardens of the oldest lacquerware house in Bagan. You will then move onto the nearby Shwezigon Pagoda, famous for its gold leaf d'e9cor, and the Ananda temple, famous as being one of the four great temples of Bagan and one of most exquisite temples in Myanmar. After enjoying lunch on board, continue exploring Bagan Heritage Trail, including the beautiful Sulamani and Gubyaukgyi temples.
Overnight on board
The ship casts off on day two for a relaxing cruise upstream towards Mandalay to enjoy the passing landscapes and villages along the river bank, with scenes reminiscent of the days of Rudyard Kipling and other intrepid explorers who have visited this rugged landscape over the centuries. Spend the afternoon drifting on the gentle waters of the Ayeyarwady, relax on the sun deck, meditate, visit the spa or enjoy the activities and workshops before enjoying a traditional Strand afternoon tea. As night falls, ship will moor on a remote and wild section of the river. Surrounded only by the soft whispering of nature, Captain invites you to a cocktail and tapas dinner in the Sarkies Bar, followed by a traditional Myanmar puppet show in the restaurant.
Overnight on board
After a leisurely breakfast, the Strand Cruise brings a visit to Ava, the ancient imperial capital of successive Burmese Kingdoms from the 14th to 19th centuries. Horse carts await the ship to transport guests for a delightful ride through the naturally preserved landscape and the key landmarks. Back to the ship, enjoy your decent dinner in the Strand Restaurant.
Overnight on board
The first stop is the U Bein Bridge, the longest teak bridge that spans the Taungthaman Lake near Amarapura, before visiting the Mahamui Buddha temple and the Shwe In Bin monastery. Following lunch back on board as you cruise, the ship stops in Mingun, one of the country's former capitals. Visit the unfinished pagoda, as well as the Hsinbyume pagoda and the infamous Mingun bell. The final stop for night is at a spot close to a temple in Ava, while saying farewell to the fellow passengers with a gastronomic dinner.
Overnight on board
After breakfast, cruise towards the Gawein Jetty in Mandalay, where guests will depart the cruise to the airport or hotels.
