tour details

Become a ‘mahout’ as you experience some component of an elephant’s life – bathing!

Arrive at the Luang Prabang Airport and then transfer and check in to the hotel in the city. The crown jewel of Laos, Luang Prabang is perhaps the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. Magical and charming, it has a long-standing reputation as a stronghold of Lao culture with its splendid natural scenery and sense of timelessness. In 1995, UNESCO voted Luang Prabang as a World Heritage City.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then take the morning to explore the backroads of Luang Prabang via bicycle. See parts of Luang Prabang only few visitors see as the half-day bike trip includes interesting, non-touristy places in the valley of Luang Prabang. On the way, witness the daily life of the local people, explained by our professional guide.
Continue on to blacksmith and Sa paper handicraft villages, a local market where it’s possible to sample the local food, a temple ruin, a cremation ground and an orphanage school with approximately 400 children. A good quality mountain bike, helmet and drinking water will be provided. The bike trails are mostly flat and approximately 30% are unpaved. The latter part of the afternoon is available to relax at your leisure.

Retire for the evening at a hotel in Luang Prabang.
Eat breakfast at the hotel and then take a ride with an English speaking guide to the Elephant Village Camp. Participate in a short briefing about elephants by a local mahout. Take 3-kilometre-long trip through the jungle. For lunch, dine on a buffet at the Elephant Camp Restaurant. After eating, take a traditional Lao long boat to the Tad Sae Waterfall and relax by the waterfall or dip your feet or go for a swim in the clear water ponds.

Enjoy a set menu dinner at the Elephant Camp Restaurant and then relax for the rest of the evening at the Elephant Lodge with stunning views of the Nam Khan River.

Notes: The waterfall is dry between February to July.
Mornings in the Lao jungle are incredibly tranquil and beautiful. Retrieve your elephant from her jungle home and take her down to the Nam Khan River for an exhilarating bathing experience. Eat a set menu breakfast at the Elephant Camp Restaurant before transferring back to a hotel in Luang Prabang.

In the afternoon, spend time relaxing or do some independent exploration of Luang Prabang.
Eat breakfast at the hotel and then visit the local fresh morning market. Depart by road to the Kuang Si Waterfalls, which tumble over multi-tiered limestone formations into cool, clear pools ideal for swimming and relaxing.
On the way to the waterfalls, visit the Khmu minority village of Ban Thapaene and take a short walk around the village for a glimpse of their lifestyle. Enjoy a picnic lunch near the waterfalls and then visit a butterfly park.

Return to Luang Prabang and then transfer to airport for your departing flight.
