tour details

During this 4-day cruise journey, you will get a perfect opportunity to explore the ancient ruins of Sri Ksetra, acknowledged by UNESCO. You will be offered a glimpse of an even older civilisation than those of Bagan or Mrauk U – that of the Pyu, who built this huge city between the 5th and 9th centuries. Enjoy the river scenery along the Ayeyarwaddy river whilst sailing through the stunning sites in central Myanmar. Tuk Tuk and trishaw tours in the cities of Magwe and Thayet will be the highlights and you will eventually end your journey in Yangon.

This morning, take a short trishaw tour to venture out into the district capitol city of Magwe. A short walk takes you to the local market. After spending some time to explore and shop at the market, board your trishaw for a ride through the city to visit Mya Tha Lun pagoda. Mya Tha Lun is a beautifully gilded stupa set atop Naguttama Hill which offers a wonderful view of the river and surrounding area. Enjoy sailing the whole afternoon with lecture "Myanmar: Past and Today".

This morning, you will be put on Tuk Tuk to visit the charming town of Thayet, stopping at the oldest golf course of Myanmar with a fascinating history (guests may hit from the first tee). Then, visit the local market, passing colonial homes constructed during the British colonization of Burma. This afternoon, drive to Sri Ksetra, the fabulous and the largest ancient Pyu city that ruled in this area between the 5th and the 9th centuries. It is the site for much of the Pyu artistic legacy. Upon arrival, visit the well-documented Sri Ksetra Museum, full of excellent maps and artefacts including Hindu deities, Buddha images from as far back as the 6th century, Pyu beads, and silver coins. Back on board and farewell dinner to be followed.
