Your adventure begins in the hills of the Shan Plateau, through fields of mountain rice. A short trek to a traditional Danu village and a visit to a tea plantation garden to see Shan green tea produced. Explore the Inle Lake by a long tailed boat and travel to Sagar and Thakong in the southern part of the lake.

Transfer from Heho airport to Pindaya in your private vehicle (approximately 1 hour 45 minutes), an attractive drive up into the hills and across the Shan Plateau, through fields of mountain rice. Lunch at Green Tea Restaurant.. Visit magnificent Pindaya Caves, set in a limestone ridge overlooking a picturesque lake, where thousands of different types of Buddha images are on display in the various cave chambers. Enjoy a short trek through the hills to the village of the Danu tribe. You will pass through the farming where the Danu cultivates cheroot, tea, damsons and mangoes on the hillsides. Stroll along the village. Then, visit one of the tea plantation gardens to observe how they produce the famous Shan green tea. Enjoy green tea with snack and chat with the villagers. Afterwards, continue to local workshop where Shan paper and parasols are made. Visit the Plan Bee Beekeeping Center and discover the amazing world of beekeeping and the story for Shan honey. Each year, Shan produces around 1500 tonnes of niger honey every year and around 100 tonnes of mustard honey. Experience the feel and tastes of Myanmar honey and participate in fun workshops and activities for adults and children.

From Pindaya drive down into the valley to Nyaungshwe on the edge of Inle Lake, and board your private local boat to take you to your hotel. Inle Lake is simply magical. At 1000 metres elevation, the temperatures are pleasant, and the calm waters are dotted with Intha stilt house villages, floating vegetable gardens and fishing canoes, set against the back drop of the beautiful Shan hills. Motorised boats are the means of transport across the lake, although the Intha people get around in traditional flat bottomed boats using a unique and skilful form of leg rowing. Lunch at Golden Kite, Nampan.
In the afternoon, we visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, home to five gold leaf-covered Buddha figures, and the holiest religious site in southern Shan State. We also visit the boat construction workshop at Nampan village and stop to see some traditional handicrafts - silk weaving on wooden handlooms in Inpawkhon village, a cheroot-maker's workshop and a blacksmith's forge. Continue by boat to visit Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries on the lake, where you can see exquisite Buddha statues which are more than 200 years old. Return to your hotel by boat as the sun lowers and the light softens over the lake.

Continue and travel by boat via Nampan to Sagar (approximately 2'bd to 3 hours) and Thakong, a rarely visited area south of Inle Lake. Explore the 5-day rotating market (if your visit coincides with the schedule) a fascinating insight into the life-style of the ethnic Pa-O, Danu and Intha people who visit these markets to buy and sell. Then, visit Kyauktaing, a Shan village where earthenware pottery is produced. At nearby Kyainkhan visit a family who produce monk's robes made of fabric woven from thousands of lotus stems. In Thakong, observe local methods of producing alcohol fermented and extracted from bran rice. The day offers an insight into the unspoiled culture and traditional life-style of the ethnic Pa-O and Intha inhabitants around Sagar. Enjoy the beautiful landscape, trees and numerous settlements dotted on both sides of the canal. Lunch at Little Lodge of Samkar.
Late afternoon return to the hotel. (Note: During this tour, you will be exposed to a lot of sun, do carry a hat and bring along sun cream.)
