Enjoy breakfast in the hotel and then visit Doi Inthanon (Join-in tour)

Lying south of Chiang Mai, the granite mass of Doi Inthanon, 8,500 feet above sea level, is the highest summit in Thailand. Doi Inthanon is the tail of the Himalayan mountain range and a national park. Here is a paradise for almost 400 species of birds along with many other animals and flora and fauna.

We depart early around 7:30 hours and after a 2.5 to 3-hour drive arrive to the mountain and after a final steep climb, the summit is surprisingly flat though misty, cool and breezy. Walk to see a small Stupa containing the remains of Chao Inthawichayanon the last independent ruler of Chiang Mai who died in 1897 after the Lanna Kingdom was combined to be a part of Siam. Enjoy exploring around Ang-Kha Nature Trail at the highest peak viewing beautiful Fern & Moss as well as White & Red Rhododendrons (bloom only during Jan - Feb). After visit the Twin Pagodas built by the Thai Air force in honor of their Majesties King and Queen for their 60th Birthday Anniversaries. A visitors' center nearby contains tourist information both in Thai and English. On the way down we stop to shop at a Hmong Tribal Market.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant and then drive through Baan Khun Klaang, the biggest Hmong community of Doi Inthanon heading to the Royal's Project initiated by his Majesty the King to stop the hill tribes from growing Opium. Enjoy walking around and have the chance to take some pictures of beautiful flower plantations and the organic farmland inside the Project. Then head further down to the Karen Hill tribe village at Baan Sop Had. Before heading back to Chiang Mai we stop at Wachiratarn Waterfall. Relax and freshen up in the cool waters. Arrive back in Chiang Mai around 18:00 hrs.

    * The temperature at the top are cool all year round and can be quite cold between November and February so we suggest bringing a jumper or a jacket.
