Program 1: Mandalay – Ava – Bagan (October – December, 3 – 10 January)
From majestic Mandalay to breathtaking Bagan, cruise along the Ayeyarwady River aboard Belmond Road to Mandalay, soaking up unforgettable sights and immersing yourself in inspiring activities.

Program 2: Mandalay – Myin Mu – Bagan (16 – 30 January, February – March)
From the charming riverside town of Myin Mu to breathtaking Bagan, savour the sights of this mesmerising country as you cruise the Ayeyarwady River.

YANGON - MANDALAY: October - December, 3 - 10 January
Board the ship at Shwe Kyet Yet village near Mandalay around 11:00 hours. Enjoy an afternoon discovering the city's key sites and traditional arts, including a visit to a family of bronze casters. Raise a glass to the sunset at U Bein Bridge with a sumptuous champagne cocktail. Dine on Asian and Western cuisine in the elegant Restaurant.

YANGON - MANDALAY - MYIN MU: 16 - 30 January, February - March
Check-in at a local restaurant and the ship departs at 11:00 hours. Those arriving independently will meet us at the restaurant. After lunch there is a choice of tours available. The first option will take you to witness some of Mandalay's traditional arts, continuing on to visit the ancient capital of Amarapura, the famous U Bein Bridge and the Sagaing hills. Alternatively, aboard a chartered boat at Htin-Win Jetty for a scenic cruise, accompanied by complimentary refreshments, to meet Belmond Road to Mandalay in Myin Mu. Dine on Asian and Western cuisine in the elegant Restaurant.
BURMESE VILLAGE & AVA: October - December, 3 - 10 January
Join a Buddhist almsgiving ceremony and experience village life near our jetty before the ship sets sail. Alight in Ava to explore the ancient capital. Take a traditional horse and cart tour or discover the sights by bike. As the ship sails to Bagan, enjoy a range of onboard activities. Attend a talk on Myanmar culture, sample local infusions in our Burmese Tea Shop, learn how to dress in a traditional longyi or have your fortune told by an astrologer. You can also indulge in a treatment at the spa, work out in the gym or relax by the pool on the Observation Deck, the largest outdoor space of any river cruiser in Myanmar.

MYIN MU: 16 - 30 January, February - March
This morning disembarks to explore Myin Mu, beginning with a traditional almsgiving ceremony. Then board trishaws for a ride around town, visiting a local market and learning about the area's small cottage industries. Return to the ship for lunch as your journey continues towards Bagan. Take an afternoon at leisure, making the most of the spa facilities or unwinding beside the pool. Activities available include two fascinating lectures, an astrology reading, and a longyi-tying lesson. Savouring a traditional afternoon tea on our onboard 'Burmese Tea Shop' experience. This evening dress in your longyi for our cocktail party, followed by another delicious dinner in the Restaurant.
BAGAN: October - December, 3 - 10 January
Rise early to attend a soothing meditation session before the ship arrives in Bagan. A range of tour options is available today. Choose from "Introduction to Bagan" for temples and history, "A Day in the Life" for local culture, food and markets, or "Bagan by Bicycle" for those seeking with a taste for action and adventure. Before rejoining the ship for lunch, stroll through the small village that is home to Belmond's private jetty near Old Bagan. You may wish to visit Belmond's free clinic, where our onboard doctor will be treating local patients. In the afternoon visit Ananda, one of Bagan's most magnificent temples. Continue your tour as you explore an off-the-beaten-track temple by torchlight. End your visit by admiring the sunset over the plains. Dine under the stars at the Road to Mandalay Grill on the Observation Deck, before enjoying a classic marionette performance.

Notes:

  • All timings are approximate and should be used as a guide only

  • The rivers of Myanmar vary from season to season, with as much as a 30ft variance in water level. From January through June, the Ayeyarwady levels may drop, creating a narrower channel for navigation. To allow for these changes, Belmond Road to Mandalay may operate a revised itinerary and mooring locations may be amended.
