08:30 hrs - Depart from Miri city hotel for a 45 minutes' drive to Lambir Hills National Park. This protected terrain is home to an amazing tropical rainforest with towering trees, entwining lianas and impressive fan palms. You will also find a series of small waterfalls along the Liam river. The Latak waterfall is the most popular with a height of about 25 metres. It plunges into a large deep pool with a broad sandy poolside and makes a very pleasant spot for swimming and sunbathing. Enjoy a cooling bath after trekking through the humidity of the tropical rainforest!
A local lunch is included. Proceed to Niah National Park. Check-in & dinner at Niah National Park.

Overnight at Niah National Park, Chalet (simple accommodation).

Meals included:Lunch
After breakfast it is time to explore the famous Niah Caves. The tour starts with a visit of the Niah Museum (closed on Mondays) to learn about the archaeological importance of the Niah Caves. From here a 3 km plank-walk will lead you to the Traders Cave, which used to be a thriving market some 60-70 years ago, where edible birds' nests which had been collected in the caves were barter-traded for food and other goods. Nowadays the collecting of the highly sought-after swiftlet nests continues, but is a government-controlled activity. Having passed through Traders Cave you will reach the Niah Great Cave with the famous excavation sites, where a 40.000 year old human skull was found. Deeper inside this cave you will see evidence of the on-going collecting of edible birds' nests as well as collecting of bats guano for fertilizer. If you wish you can exit the Great Cave through the east entrance, climbing up several stairs and through a pitch-black tunnel to get to the Painted Cave with its hematite cave paintings. (Please note that the cave paintings in the Painted Cave are protected behind a tall fence and can only be seen from a distance.)
Return to the Park headquarters for lunch before we proceed to Similajau National Park. Check-in & dinner at Similajau National Park.
After dinner, we will embark on a night cruise by boat on the navigable part of the Likau river to spot crocodiles and some nocturnal animals in the mangrove forest.

Overnight at Similajau National Park, Chalet (simple accommodation).

Meals included:Breakfast
After breakfast your guide will bring you on a trek in Similajau National Park. First you will cross Sungai Likau via a suspension bridge to reach a plank walk leading through the astonishing mangrove forest. Huge nipah palm leaves line the river banks. Once inside the mangrove forest, root-systems of Rhizophora mangrove trees form spectacular labyrinths. In the mud, a myriad of creatures find a living. Listen to the interesting explanations of your guide and learn more about this unique ecosystem! At the end of the plank walk, the trail will lead you through Mixed Dipterocarp forest. This forest type is the richest of all for plant and animal species! Before returning to the National Park Headquarters, proceed to Likau river mouth view point, where a shelter is perched on small rocky headland. Spectacular panoramic views over the South China Sea can be enjoyed here. This is a good place to relax in a peaceful setting. After lunch, transfer to Bintulu airport for your late afternoon flight to your next destination.
