Two thousand years of human history revolve around the Mekong River, the longest river in Southeast Asia. The areas around the Mekong in Cambodia are a combination of ancient and new, and a fascinating place to explore. We’ll start by heading to Kratie and stop to observe rare river Dolphins until sunset before taking a ferry to the island of Koh Trong in the middle of the Mekong River. The following day, we’ll explore the small colonial-style town of Kratie, before heading to Kompong Cham, where we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Next, we’ll head to Wat Nokhor with its ancient temple and modern style pagoda. On our way to Phnom Penh, we’ll make a stop in Skuon for the opportunity to taste one of Cambodia’s exotic culinary delights, the deep-fried spider.

Proceed through customs and immigration at Trapeang Kreal immigration check-point (Laos-Cambodia border).
Welcome by your guide on the Cambodian side and departure to Stung Treng (50 km, new laterite road, 1 hour drive).
Arrive in Stung Treng, lunch at local restaurant.
Continue by road to Kratie, stop to see and observe the rare river Dolphins until sunset.
Contnue to Kratie and take a small ferry boat to the island of Koh Trong situated in the middle of the Mekong River opposite Kratie town.
Dinner at hotel.
Accommodation at Rajabori Villas on Koh Trong Island.
Breakfast at hotel.
Visit Kratie, this small colonial-style town. Departure by road to Kompong Cham. On the way to Kompong Cham stop at Chhup, a rubber plantation first established in the region by the French tire maker Michelin.
Lunch at local restaurant in Kompong Cham.
Visit Wat Nokhor with its ancient temple and modern style pagoda (12th century) and tour of Kampong Cham to view examples of colonial architecture.
Make a stop in Skuon to taste Cambodia's more exotic culinary delights, the deep-fried spider.
Continue to Phnom Penh.
